About Nina

I am a therapist, a human, and a fellow traveler. My work is grounded in the belief that we all deserve a place to be seen, heard, and understood.

Nina Smith - Therapy Practitioner

My Background

My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line. Before I sat in this chair, I worked in community arts and advocacy, listening to stories from people whose voices were often pushed to the margins. I learned early on that healing doesn't happen in isolation, it happens in connection.

I completed my graduate training at a program known for its focus on depth psychology and social justice. Since then, I have worked in community clinics, hospital settings, and private practice. These experiences have taught me that while our struggles are personal, they are often shaped by the world around us.

My Values

I believe therapy should be a place where you don't have to perform. In my office (or on our screen), you are free to be messy, uncertain, angry, or quiet. I value authenticity over professional distance, and curiosity over quick fixes.

I approach this work with a deep respect for your autonomy. You are the expert on your own life; my role is to help you access the wisdom that is already there, even if it feels buried right now.

Is this the right fit for you?

Finding a therapist is a bit like dating, the "click" matters. We might work well together if:

  • You appreciate a therapist who is warm and interactive, rather than a "blank slate."
  • You are interested in understanding the "why" behind your patterns, not just managing symptoms.
  • You want a space that honors your cultural identity and lived experience.
  • You are ready to explore difficult emotions at a pace that feels safe for you.
